2020 Public Service Updates

Just a quick announcement to keep an eye on the RARC Public Service page for updates, postponements, and cancellations of events. As you can imagine these schedules will be very fluid throughout the year. IF you had signed up for any of the postponed events, please contact the RARC event coordinator listed on said page with updates to your availability as things start moving again.

The 2020 Med-City Marathon is being moved to September 5th and 6th.

Details:
This is a damage assessment class for SkyWarn trained personnel to attend to learn how to report damage to local emergency organizations (Red Cross, County/City EOC, National Weather Service etc.).  This information will be effective accross county lines not just for Olmsted.

There will be lunch provided and anyone interested needs to contact Steve, WØSTV to RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount.  Non-club members can get prerequisite information from Steve upon request to make sure they are able to attend.

Scheels Healthy Human Race – August 24, 2019 @ 7:00 AM

The 35th annual Healthy Human race is a half-marathon event held on on August 24, 2019 starting at Soldiers Field in downtown Rochester, MN.

There are 7 aid stations on the course serving up water and Gatorade.  These are located at miles 1.7, 3.5, 5.2, 6.3, 7.6, 9.5, and 11.3 .  Port-a-johns are located at the Start and Finish and adjacent to every aid station. Medical support is available along the course and at the finish line.

John mentioned we have only a few people signed up and we need more help!

Mayo Clinic Bounce Day – October 6 2019

Bounce Day is an emergency simulation event designed to test “can YOU be the help until help arrives.” This year’s event will be held at Gamehaven Scout Reservation.

Our club is involved as part of the NIMS protocol as logistics communicators. Please Sign up on both our list and the Bounce Day website linked below. The Bounce Day registration IS REQUIRED in order to participate and has a special “ticket type” for Ham Radio, lets fill up their request as best we can! They list up to 19 hams still needed as I post this!

Iron Challenge – February 23rd, 2019

The Iron Challenge is a Fat Tire Bike Race, 4k Trail Run and Duathlon raising money for Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge and Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch. For 2019 the Iron Challenge will feature 3 levels of Fat Tire bike racing, 3 levels of a 4k Trail Run race and 3 levels of a Duathlon. This event could use 1-2 more people, sign up here!
