Field Day

Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

Severe Weather Information and Changes

Thunderstorms and possible severe weather are expected on Saturday, which will impact our Field Day activities. Among some of the impacts, the Saturday Dinner has been rescheduled to Noon on Sunday, but will remain at the City of Rochester EOC.

Please follow for the most current information on our Groups.IO e-mail reflector.

2024 Field Day will be held at the City of Rochester EOC at Fire Station #2 (2185 Wheelock Dr NE, Rochester, MN). The main event starts at 1:00pm Saturday and runs through the night until Sunday at 3:00pm.

To put this together and be ready, we will need help setting up equipment on Friday and Saturday, then help to take it all back down again on Sunday. This year we will again be providing food on Saturday night, so please put your name down if you plan to be there so we make sure to have enough food available.

Please see the sign-up sheet for operating schedules, dinner, setup and tear down help.

This year’s coordinators are Steve (W0STV) and Taylor (WB0RSJ). Please keep an eye here and on the RARC Groups.IO reflector for more information.
