The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club (RARC) monthly meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on the above date, at the new Rochester Fire Station No. 2, southwest of the intersection of Viola Road NE and East Circle Drive [Cty 22] NE, in Rochester. Feel free to join us for an optional social dinner before at 5 pm at Whistle Binkies North, voted best bar in Minnesota!
The originally scheduled October program " How to Buy Used Ham Equipment" will unfortunately need to be postponed. In its place, K0RGR (Bill Osler) will be offering insight into "WinLink; also known as "RMS Express;"-- an application that provides an amateur radio operator with the ability to send email using the ham bands. Winlink is a digital radio communications system that allows amateur radio operators to send and receive electronic mail (e-mail) and attachments without having a direct connection to the Internet. Winlink is a store and forward messaging system. WinLink was utilized recently in Puerto Rico by amateur radio operators to offset the "grid-down" disaster scenario.
