The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club (RARC) monthly
meeting is at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday September 9th in
Room EH 109, Endicott Hall, at the UCR/RCTC Campus, in
Rochester.
September program RARC
Good evening everyone! I hope each and every one of you have enjoyed the season
to its fullest. RARC has had quite a handful of activities over the past several
months, and I feel we should congratulate one another for the tremendous involvement
of our members throughout the summer season. I am so proud of the amazing talent
and resources this group displays.
Our September meeting will once again be held at RCTC in Room EH109 at 7pm.
In support of one of our generous club sponsors, Famous Dave's, there will be an
informal gathering of HAMS for a casual meet/greet and ragchew at 5:30. Everyone
is welcome - please extend the invitation to a new or visiting HAM to join us!
(431 16th Ave NW - 146.82 is the talk-in if required)
We will have a split program for the September meeting.
Robert Andrews (KØRDA) will be doing a RARC website presentation.
and
Bob (ABØBW), Olmsted County's Emergency Coordinator will be discussing
the upcoming ARES mock disaster preparedness drill. He will be seeking volunteers
for the drill, which will take place late September/early October. If you are a
current AEC, or if you would like to be a team leader for this activity, please
reach out to Bob as soon as possible.
Last month we recognized the one year anniversary of the Rushford disaster.
Recovery is still taking place. While I believe RARC members were shining examples
of invaluable assistance in trying times, this event uncovered some potential
limitations in our response capabilities that need to be addressed. This drill
will assist us in overcoming those limitations so that we may be in a better
state of preparedness for the next (hopefully never) event.
OCTOBER
Stan (AIØM), has been working with a wonderful group of HAMS in the Twin Cities,
and they will be partnering together for our October meeting to do a Youth in Radio presentation.
AND
I believe the Expo committee may prepared at that time to do an Expo wrap-up for the club membership.
Jerry Nau (College for Kids) has volunteered to bring refreshments for our membership
as a show of gratitude for the club's support of the College for Kids program.
NOVEMBER
It has been suggested RARC consider a kit-build night for the program for November.
Please let Stan know if you are interested in this...or would like to elmer that night.
DECEMBER
It's also not too early to begin thinking about suggestions for a location for
the RARC Christmas party, which has traditionally taken the place of the December
monthly meeting....and also to give some thoughtful consideration for nominations
for Board members for 2009.
Suggestions are always welcome for programs and club activities. Please contact AIØM.
Thanks again for ALL you do to make this club successful and relevant.
