January 8 RARC President's Address and Meeting Announcement

The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club (RARC) monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday January 8th at the American Red Cross Building, 310 14th Street SE, in Rochester. 

President's Address and Meeting Announcement

Our first meeting of the new year will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 7pm at the Red Cross building. We will have a short business meeting followed by an exciting program.

The newly elected RARC Board received a request for our club to consider organizing and sponsoring an Amateur Radio Ham Convention, similar in nature to the annual event held in Dayton.

A handful of club members have been involved in researching the feasibility of such an event to be held in our community, and many of you have heard portions of those findings over the past week or two. RARC members and guests will have an opportunity on Tuesday night to review a proposal for this event. The program will consist of a Powerpoint presentation providing our membership with details on this proposed event. In addition, we will have guest speakers from the Rochester Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) present to share with us how they can provide valuable assistance with such a project.

I have attached to this email the Powerpoint presentation for membership review prior to the meeting, so that each of you will have the opportunity to formulate questions for a stimulating discussion Tuesday evening. This document is not intended to represent a completely formulated plan, as the project is still fluid in concept.

I encourage each and every one of you to not only attend, but perhaps also to reach out to less-regular attendees and suggest they come along. This event represents a wonderful opportunity for our club and community, and your input is appreciated.
