The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club (RARC) monthly meeting
is at 7pm this coming Tuesday October 9th at the American Red Cross Building, 310 14th Street
SE, in Rochester.
All members are encouraged to bring a guest or encourage a new licensee
to attend as we work towards setting up clubs in local schools.
Summer has gone by fast and with cooler weather soon to be here, the
program this month will be a discussion on Contesting lead by our guest speaker
Bill ACØW from Austin and the Minnesota Wireless Association.
A large variety of HF contests occur between October and May. There are
many "easy" contests like QSO Parties
to get practiced up on HF operating - so circle Feb 2, 2008 for our own
MN QP, see http://www.w0aa.org/mnqp.htm
Along with committee reports we will request the Education Task Force to
present a progress report on the
RARC sponsored Century HS and/or Schaeffer Academy club stations.
Take a look at our web site for updated news and the minutes from our
Sept meeting.
Two items of new business:
-
We will make a motion to accept a bid on some donated gear and set
aside the funds to use to purchase an "easy to use" HF transceiver.
-
We have a donated GAP Challenger vertical antenna which can be used
at a future school station if approved by the
facilities owner.
-
Please forward other items of new business to me or one of the club
officers prior to Sunday 9pm.
As always, I encourage those with "new hams" questions or a desire to
ragchew to try to join us before 7pm.
SEE YOU TUESDAY! 73s Dave KØVH
