The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club
monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday November 13th.
It is NOT at the Red Cross but will be at at Schaeffer Academy,
2700 Schaeffer Ln NE,
east of Century HS in Rochester where we will
be able to see the new RARC sponsored school club station.
Note from the pres
All members are encouraged to bring a guest or encourage a new licensee to
attend as we work towards setting up clubs in local schools like
Schaeffer and Century High School. We will have a special guest
(I suggest you skip dessert) and a busy night of programs; my goal will be
to keep the business meeting to less than 1/2 hour, therefore any motions or
new business items should be sent to me prior to Sunday 9pm.
Along with the great opportunity to see the Schaeffer club in action I'd like
to get a quick update on what's happening at Century as well.
There is another meeting at Schaeffer that night so I suggest you arrive
around 6:45 and look for signs to RARC.
The rest of the program will feature speakers from Radio City
(a dealer driving down from the north side Twin Cities), and Batteries Plus.
Look for many more program details
and
photos from Schaeffer's initial WØMXW operation
at our web site plus the
minutes from our Oct meeting
as well.
New hams can get plenty of questions answered on new radios and battery
technology here; if you have a few extra bucks in the checkbook it's a great
time for an early Christmas present as well.
As we seem to be finally into the cooler weather routine, it's great to get
the following report from Scott KØMD on how well we did at the June Field Day:
We placed 215 out of 2333 [total] entries, placed 43 out of 244 Class 3-a
entries, I think we did an outstanding job.

That is the listing in the on-line ARRL posting showing 2,723 contacts made
as well. I also believe we were the top MN station
in the 3A 3 transceiver high power category - great job team!
One last piece of trivia from the web,
"Single nanotube makes world's
smallest radio", wow.

Program Details
Don't miss the November RARC monthly meeting. It will be a very special event.
The program will feature speakers from Radio City,
and Batteries Plus, and the event will be held at
Schaeffer Academy
giving us all an opportunity to see the new
school station
that was recently setup there.
Dan, from Radio City, has very graciously agreed to come down and do a
presentation for our group. He will be discussing equipment for new hams,
and for people that are perhaps on a lower budget. He is also prepared to
provide a presentation on the
D-STAR system.
He will be bringing a range of HTs and other equipment as well as some
kits for beginners.
Dan has also offered to deliver advanced orders at the club meeting.
If you are interested in purchasing items from Radio City, and would like to
place an advanced order, please contact Dan at (763)786-4475 or 1-800-426-2891 to
make the arrangements.
Rick from Batteries Plus
will also be presenting at the club meeting. He will be talking about deep cycle
batteries, backup batteries, power supplies and things of that nature.
Please get the word out and share the information about this special
club event with other hams that you may know in the surrounding area.
All hams in the area are invited to attend.
