December 11 RARC meeting reminder and short note

Please note our December meeting will be on Tuesday December 11 @ 7pm at KCØWIP/ABØBW's QTH in NE Rochester and is our annual Holiday Party.

RARC members should have received on online invitation. If you have questions or need directions look at our web site main page for details. We'll have a short business meeting mainly for elections of 2008 club officers. Minutes from the November meeting along with an interesting set of 23 photos called Meeting Rewind are listed at the bottom of our main page as well. Bring a few photos or other items of interest to the meeting - what new ham trinkets did you get for early holiday presents, perhaps from Radio City at the last meeting? We'll have a lot of social & ragchew time so new hams should have time to get questions answered as well; this is the best time to plan for next Spring's outdoor antenna, fox hunting, or QRP portable en devours.

I did get one email last week with a request to announce this NE MN net:

The Iron Range Net meets Saturdays at 8 am on 3.919Mhz. It is a fellow ship net for the hams on the iron range but all other hams are invited to participate. Please post this info in your news letter. 73 WAØWNV

Most of you have probably figured this out, but this is my last "note from the Pres". I have enjoyed serving this fine SE MN amateur radio group this past year and promise to continue to stay involved in this great hobby/service for at least a few more sunsp ots peaks (I have operated in 4 so far, you do the math). I do encourage all of you to push the envelope a bit using or gaining some new license privileges in 2008 while trying out new modes in ham radio including public service or helping out our new school clubs. For example, this weekend is the ARRL 10 meter contest where any Technician can make contacts with a 16' dipole hanging off the corner of the garage and make a few contacts between 28.3-28.5mhz SSB during the daylight hours ... hopefully propagation will cooperate, just think how wild it will be in 4 more years at our next sunspot peak!

73s and if I do not see you next Tuesday, please have a Happy Holiday season with your family and friends , Dave KØVH
