|
The next Rochester Amateur Radio Club (RARC) monthly
meeting is at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday May 13th in
Room EH 109, Endicott Hall, at the UCR/RCTC Campus, in
Rochester.
Presidents address - May 2008
My apologies for not getting this out to you sooner...we've been travelling
and my work obligations have recently increased substantially. I'm doing my
best to maintain some appearance of balance.
Happy May!!! I'm certain everyone's summer plans are about to kick into high
gear. A LOT of radio related activity has taken place since our last meeting!
Last week's VE testing session resulted in 15 new techs or generals! If you
know of any of them, please reach out to them to get them involved - in the
club, field day, the Expo...ANYTHING! Perhaps a list can/ or has been
generated so we can determine how to best contract them...?
The May club meeting which will be held once again in
Room EH109 at the RCTC/University Center campus.
Park in the West lot and the room is readily accessible. Thanks again to Stan
for working out this partnership with RCTC!
The Tech committee has an update on repairs/upgrades to the repeaters and
other equipment to present to the membership.
The Field Day committee is seeking volunteers and assistance with the food
program for that event. Please see Dave, KØVH regarding this or any
other aspect of Field Day.
The education committee is excited to announce that we have acquired a tower
for the upcoming Century High School station, AND permission to install it on
the roof at that facility. Anyone interested in assisting in getting this
station installed and up and running - please see Bill, NØNUV or
Doug, KDØUGB.
Stan, KDØBQ is seeking suggestions for programs for the summer months.
After the monthly meeting concludes, Bob, ABØBW, will be providing a
presentation and live demonstration on Digital Voice on HF, so stick around!!!
As usual, an informal HAM gathering at John Hardy's South at 5:30. Anyone is welcome!!
If anyone has any other items to be discussed at the meeting, please call me! 280-4003.
73's

Just got your Tech license? Or you've moved up to General. But, don't
know the in's and out's of HF operations?. Then come on over to the Ten
Meters every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on 28.320 SSB. I'm sure
the Hams would be more then happy to answer any of your questions. And even give
you some free pointers on working DX as the Solar Cycle gears up. New General
licensee? Try out that new rig on the open highways of HF. Talk local, learn
International! because Ten Meters will be a super band the coming years. It
