interested in obtaining the entry Technician license and the more advanced
General license.
Technician Ham Radio Class
|
The RARC technician ham radio class meets on a Saturday,
from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm prior to a VE test session. The class covers
all topics needed to pass the entry level Technician written Element 2
examination. The class uses the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual
publication (1st Edition) as a study guide plus a set of Powerpoint charts and
materials specifically developed for the class. Class sessions are held at
the American Red Cross building, 310 14th Street SE, in Rochester.
The class fee of $45 covers the costs to provide the ARRL
Ham Radio License Manual study guide plus copies of the presentation and
review materials. A CDROM of the lecture materials is also provided.
The next technician ham radio class will be held
during the Rochester Amateur Radio Expo, August 8 - 10, 2008. More details
about the class and the VE testing sessions that will be offered can be found
at the
RARExpo web site.
Prospective students should contact class coordinator Bill Osler, at 252-5852
to obtain a book at least 2 weeks prior to the class.
Additional information is provided in the following links:
An amateur radio class for hams interested in obtaining the General license was offered on
March 3 and 10, 2007, in Rochester. The class fee was $45. This class covered all topics
needed to pass the General written examination (Element 3) . The
ARRL General License Manual, 6th Edition was used for the class along with a set
of Powerpoint charts and materials developed for the two day class.
Because of the new rule change, Morse code (element 1) is no longer needed as of
Feburary 23th, 2007. So, this is the prefect time to upgrade and gain true HF
coverage.
