Everyone one has heard of radio contesting or radiosport. Maybe you’ve even been in a contest on either the VHF or HF bands. That’s great! If you like competition or want to test the limits of your radio equipment or your own endurance then this aspect of ham radio is for you! There are a lot of RARC club members who are willing to help you get started, get better and get to be the best…if you want. Here’s a tip. When you get to the weekend after the week-long stressful job routine you can check here to see if there is a contest you might like to operate: http://www.hornucopia.com/contestcal/weeklycont.php There are multiple views of the calendar depending on how far forward you want to look. No matter what mode or bands you can start here to see what’s happening when, when it happens and information on the contest details and sponsors. Some fun events coming up in February are: Minnesota QSO Party 1400Z-2400Z, Feb 4 ARRL Inter. DX Contest, CW 0000Z, Feb 18 to 2400Z, Feb 19 I hope to make this new feature for the monthly RARC newsletter educational and informative. Want to find out more?
